Emergency Department Technician - Full Time

Status: Full Time; Non-Exempt

Shift/ Hours of Work: 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Rotating weekends

NATURE OF WORK:  This position provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The incumbent works in a fast paced environment and will provide set up for a variety of patient care procedures. In addition, the Technician will be responsible for room preparation and cleaning as well as stocking and dispensing of supplies.

The Emergency Department Technician will also assist with securing beds at higher level of care facilities, as well as with finding transportation. The Technician would be someone who could be trained to complete registration and to put discharge charts together, benefiting both the Business Office and Medical Records. Sign patients into system and push their electronic chart to the track board at the nurse's station.

• Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.

Physical Requirements: 

Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activities. Good visual acuity and color determination. Must be able to work under stress and coordinate several activities simultaneously.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High school graduate or equivalent required

Experience:  Experience in a hospital environment or as an EMT preferred.
