FMH OCTOBER CALENDAR OF EVENTS

CPR Classes:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s free monthly CPR Class will be held on Wednesday, October 3rd at 9:30am. Pre-registration is required. To register, please call (618)847-8243.

3D Mammography Mobile Event in:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will have their 3-D Mobile Mammography at the Egyptian Health Department in Carmi on Saturday, October 6th, with appointments beginning at 8:00a.m. No physician order needed for those who are over the age of 40.  It must have been at least one year since your last Mammogram.  Patients are asked to bring their insurance card, photo ID, and doctor’s contact information.  This event is for annual screening Mammograms only. Individuals can call the FMH Diagnostic Imaging Department at 618-847-8249 to secure an appointment with one of FMH’s skilled technologists. Walk-Ins are also welcome.

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group:

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group will meet Saturday, October 6th from 11 a.m. - Noon, located in the Harlan Yates Board Room located in the FMH Medical Arts Complex. The MS Support Group meets the first Saturday of each month. For more information regarding this support group please call 618-847-8243.

First Aid/CPR Class:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital is offering First Aid/CPR Certification to the public free of charge. The class will be held on October 9th at 9:30am to 1:30pm in the FMH Education Annex Building (former Union Hall) located on 10th Street. For more information or to pre-register call (618) 847-8243. Pre-registration is required.

Book Fair:

The Book Fair is back October 9th! Mark your calendar and get an early start on your Christmas shopping with great gifts and even better deals. The Book Fair will be held October 9th, 9:00-4:00 pm in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will benefit the SCU Activity Fund and the FMH Foundation. For more information, please call (618) 847-8243.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital Horizon Healthcare Grayville Clinic Open House:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting an Open House at the new Horizon Healthcare Grayville Medical Clinic on Wednesday, October 10th from Noon to 4:00pm with the ribbon cutting to be held at Noon. The public is invited to come in and enjoy a tour of the clinic, meet the providers and staff who will be taking care of them at the Grayville Clinic, and enjoy refreshments. The new Clinic is located at 319 W. Commerce Street in Grayville. To learn more about this open house, please call 618-847-8243. The Clinic will be open Monday-Friday, from 9am-5pm. Appointments for the Grayville Clinic can be made by call 618-842-4617. Walk-ins are also welcome at this Clinic. We hope to see you there!

Coffee Club:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions will hold the next Coffee Club from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on October 11th. The Coffee Club will meet at the Fairfield Elks Lodge and is open to older adults. You do not have to be a participant in the Senior Life Solutions program to attend. Free blood pressure checks and refreshments will also be offered at the Coffee Club. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cancer Care Support Group:

The Fairfield Memorial Hospital Cancer Support Group meeting once a month on the second Thursday of the each month from 6-7 p.m. in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room with the next meeting being held, Thursday, October 11th. Reduced Lab Testing Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory Department October 15th-October 20th:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be holding a Reduced Cost Lab Testing day on Monday, October 15th through Saturday, October 20th from 7:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. at FMH Laboratory Department. No appointment needed. 

The following tests will be offered:

Glucose (Blood Sugar) $10 | Hemoglobin A1c (Diabetic Monitor) $20 | Lipid Panel (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and VLDL) $20 | PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) $20 | Thyroid Function Panel (T4, Free T3, Free T4, TSH) $35 | General Health Profile (Includes CBC, Lipid Screen, and a 12 test chemistry profile) $35 | Vitamin D Test $35

If you are interested, go directly to the FMH Laboratory Department located in Fairfield Memorial Hospital at 303 NW 11th St, Fairfield, IL 62837. Patients should not have food or drink after midnight and payment is due at the time of service.  Results of the test will be mailed directly to the patient’s home. We accept cash and checks at these events. Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be holding a Reduced Cost Lab Testing day on Monday, October 15th - Wednesday, October, 17thFriday, October 19th from 7:00 a.m. to 9 a.m. at FMH Albion Lab Draw Station at the Edwards Co. Health Department. No appointment needed. 

The following tests will be offered:

Diabetes Support Group:

Join FMH on Thursday, October 18th for the Diabetes Support Group Meeting. Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s certified Diabetes Educator, Stephen Welty, RN, CDE, will lead a discussion on meal planning and holiday preparation. The meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Room.

5K Trick or Trot:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital Foundation is holding a 5K Trick or Trot on Saturday, October 27th. Registration will be at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Horizon Healthcare entrance with a Kid Run afterwards. Participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes. Prizes will be given out to Best Group, Best Handmade, Best Couple, Best Overall Adult Costume, and Best Overall Kid Costume. The price for registration is $20, which is due by October 12th along with your registration form. Children ages 0-8 are free. The FMH Foundation will be hosting an all you can eat pancake-sausage-tang breakfast from 8am-10am during this event. Tickets are $6.00 per person. We will also many family fun events to go along with this race so bring out your family and friends and enjoy all of the family friendly activities we will be providing. Fairfield Memorial Hospital to host PALS for (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Training:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will hold the next Pediatric Advanced Life Support class on October 29th at 9 a.m.   The cost is $30 for the PALS course.  Should a CPR card be needed, there will be an additional $10 charge. These classes will be held in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. If you would like to learn more or register for the course, please contact Deb Spillman, CMSRN, FMH Clinical Practice Coordinator, at 618-847-8241.  Upcoming scheduled dates for Advanced Cardiac Life Support ($30 class fee): November 7th. Future class dates for Pediatric Advanced Life Support classes is December 5th.  Please register one week prior to class, if possible.
