FMH RECRUITS TWO SOCIAL WORK PROFESSIONALS BACK HOME - 2009-11-23

Fairfield Memorial Hospital strives to bring highly skilled professionals back to their home communities.  Most recently, FMH was able to recruit two Social Workers to become part of the FMH Senior Life Solutions team of professionals.  Morgan Land, MSW, and Andrea Shupe, MSW, LCSW, have both been hired to serve as therapists at Senior Life Solutions.  In their new roles, they will conduct interviews with each client/family to provide provisions of social work services in a therapeutic environment.

Morgan Land, MSW, received her Bachelors of Social Work in 2005 and a Masters of Social Work in 2006 at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.  Morgan has four years of experience in Social Work and has previously worked at Lutheran Social Services of Illinois as a Child Welfare Specialist.  She is the daughter of Dave and Kathy Land of Fairfield.

“I’ve enjoyed working at Senior Life Solutions!  It is a positive work environment; with the clients and staff.  When the clients arrive, we greet them with a hug, to help jump-start their day and they love it!  This job provides endless opportunities in assisting the clients in achieving their quality of life and I am proud to be a part of the transformation,” stated Land.

Andrea Shupe, MSW,  LCSW received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology at The University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana in 1997 and received her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1999.  She is a member of the Council of Nephrology Social Workers, National Kidney Foundation Member and National Association of Social Workers. Andrea is the daughter of Bob and Peg Edwards of Fairfield.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Senior Life Solutions family. This program offers a wonderful opportunity for its clients to grow and adjust to life’s challenges in a caring and safe environment. It is very rewarding to work in an environment where you can see positive changes in your clients and know that you are making a difference in their lives. The entire staff is warm and welcoming and I’m honored to be a part of such a wonderful program,” stated Shupe.

FMH Senior Life Solutions is a program which provides an atmosphere that is warm and receptive.  It is a confidential place where change occurs with the assistance of staff providing revitalizing group discussions.  These revitalizing group discussions explore life challenges and transitions leading to healthy ways to cope in the present and future.  There are three daily healing groups along with a nursing group in which education is provided about disease processes and mind/body connections.  Each client has the ability to teach and learn from others thus creating a bond.  Individuals who have graduated from the program attend a monthly alumni meeting where each client has the opportunity to share their experiences and triumphs.
