EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

• · Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Illinois; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within three (3) months of hire.

SKILLS

• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills and genuine interest in caring for geriatric and disabled persons.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work cooperatively with staff.
• Knowledge of safe lifting/transferring techniques and ergonomic practices.

NATURE OF WORK
The Skilled Care Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and restorative resident care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. CNAs assist residents with activities of daily living, ensure comfort and safety, and help maintain a clean environment. This role is essential in supporting patients in an extended care facility, including assisting with personal care, mobility, nutrition, and monitoring vital signs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility needs.
• Provide restorative care including ambulation, range of motion exercises, and repositioning.
• Take and record vital signs, weight, intake/output, and report changes in condition.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
• Maintain resident rooms, linens, and supplies in a clean and orderly manner.
• Prepare residents for meals, serve food trays, and assist with feeding as needed.
• Transport residents to appointments or departments as directed.
• Provide post-mortem care and assist nursing staff with treatment procedures.
• Uphold infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and compassion in all interactions.
