    Infection Prevention/Employee Health/Float Pool Nurse Manager

    Minimum Requirements:
    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Required: Registered Nurse (RN) with current Illinois state licensure; ACLS/PALS/BLS Certified.
    • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

    EXPERIENCE:
    • Required: Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience. 
    • Preferred: Prior leadership experience preferred; Experience in infection prevention or employee health. 

    SKILLS
    • Strong leadership and team building skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and support clinical staff across multiple departments.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate staff, present findings, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
    • Advanced knowledge of infection prevention principles, surveillance methods, and regulatory standards (CDC, OSHA, IDPH, CMS, TJC).
    • Proficiency in analyzing infection data, identifying trends, and implementing evidence based corrective actions.
    • Skilled in conducting audits, leading outbreak investigations, and coordinating mitigation strategies.
    ADDITIONAL:  
    Willingness to attain infection control certification or other continued educational certifications beneficial for the role

    NATURE OF WORK
    The Infection Prevention/Employee Health/Float Pool Nurse Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for infection prevention, employee health, and float pool nursing services across Fairfield Memorial Hospital. This role ensures compliance with CDC, OSHA, IDPH, CMS, and TJC standards while monitoring infection trends, conducting audits, and leading outbreak investigations. The Nurse Manager oversees employee health programs, including immunizations, screenings, wellness initiatives, and exposure follow-up, and collaborates with the Practitioner to support staff well-being. Additionally, this position supervises Float Pool nursing staff and provides clinical support across Med-Surg/ICU/Swing Bed, Emergency Department, Skilled Care, Surgery, and House Supervision as needed. The Nurse Manager plays a key role in maintaining regulatory readiness, supporting Swing Bed program growth, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead infection prevention initiatives in alignment with CDC, OSHA, IDPH, CMS, and TJC guidelines, including surveillance, audits, and corrective action planning.
    • Monitor, analyze, and report infection data to NHSN, identifying trends and implementing mitigation strategies.
    • Conduct outbreak investigations and coordinate response efforts to reduce transmission risk and protect patients and staff.
    • Oversee employee health programs, including immunizations, screenings, wellness activities, and exposure management in collaboration with the Practitioner.
    • Supervise Float Pool nursing staff and ensure adequate clinical coverage across Med Surg/ICU/Swing Bed, Emergency Department, Skilled Care, Surgery, and House Supervision.
    • Support regulatory compliance for employee health, infection prevention, and clinical staffing models, ensuring readiness for surveys and audits.
    • Facilitate Swing Bed program compliance, documentation standards, and census growth initiatives.
    • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and professional development through education, coaching, and consistent communication.
