    Office Nurse (RN, LPN, CMA, or MA)

    Minimum Requirements:
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
    • Perform patient work ups, including vitals, history, medication verification, and preparation of exam rooms prior to provider evaluation.
    • Provide clinical support to providers, assist with office procedures, administer vaccinations and standing orders, and document all care accurately in the EHR.
    • Manage provider and personal inbox tasks, ensuring timely follow up on results, records, patient messages, and clinical updates.
    • Conduct telephone triage by prioritizing calls, verifying patient identity, documenting conversations, and providing accurate instructions or escalation.
    • Deliver patient education, instructions, and well child materials, ensuring information is complete, understandable, and aligned with provider guidance.
    • Maintain organized, clean, and well stocked clinical areas, including medication logs, sample tracking, refrigerator temperatures, and supply management.
    • Follow all infection control, safety, HIPAA, and hospital policies; participate in chart audits, quality improvement, and performance initiatives.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and effective communication with patients, families, coworkers, and providers to support a positive patient experience.
    • Apply critical thinking to assess patient concerns, triage appropriately, identify issues requiring escalation, and support problem solving within the clinic.
    • Contribute to teamwork by assisting coworkers, supporting new staff or students, and helping meet departmental needs and daily patient care demands.

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    •    Required: Current licensure or certification as MA, CMA, LPN, or RN
    •    Preferred: Experience in a physician office or outpatient clinic setting; Familiarity with electronic health records

    EXPERIENCE
    • Preferred: Clinical experience in ambulatory care, family practice, pediatrics, or similar setting; Experience with telephone triage, patient education, or care coordination

    NATURE OF WORK
    The Office Nurse plays a vital role in coordinating patient care, supporting providers, and ensuring a positive patient experience within the Horizon Healthcare physician office practice. This position communicates extensively with patients, providers, and external healthcare facilities; performs clinical assessments; assists with procedures; and carries out provider orders. A significant portion of the role involves telephone triage, patient education, and accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). The Office Nurse ensures that patient information is complete, accurate, and up to date, and supports clinic operations through supply management, safety practices, and participation in quality improvement.
