Minimum Requirements:

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Technical training or certification in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or related field

EXPERIENCE

• Preferred: Previous experience in facility maintenance, plant operations, or related field preferred; Experience working with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems is a plus

NATURE OF WORK
The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of maintenance and repair duties across hospital facilities. This role supports Plant Operations by maintaining building systems, assisting skilled trades, and ensuring all equipment operates efficiently and safely. The technician plays a vital role in creating a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform general maintenance work including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, masonry, and mechanical repairs
• Assist in operation and maintenance of boilers, HVAC systems, emergency generators, and refrigeration equipment
• Complete preventative maintenance and assigned tasks through the work order system
• Monitor and report necessary procedural or operational changes to supervisors
• Follow fire, safety, and emergency procedures; participate in drills and disaster preparedness
• Ensure a safe environment by identifying and correcting potential hazards
• Inspect facility lighting; replace bulbs and repair fixtures as needed
• Perform minor repairs such as unclogging drains, plastering surfaces, replacing tiles, and fixing blinds
• Repair resident equipment including beds and call light systems
• Conduct filter changes and routine upkeep of air handling equipment
• Install safety rails and repair handrails
• Order materials and supplies with supervisor approval
