    Speech Language Pathologist

    Minimum Requirements:

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. Must have an IL license and ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC), or applied for CCC. Proof of registration to complete Clinical Fellowship in SLP after which certification can be obtained.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Speech Language Pathology required.

    SKILLS:

    Considerable initiative and judgement is required to set and adjust work flow to accommodate changing priorities and to determine plausibility of treatment considering test performance, age, and condition. Must be able to mentally compile information from the evaluation and make conclusions in regards to the patient’s deficits. Must be able to interpret information on a regular basis in order to provide the patient with feedback in regards to their progress. Must be able to accept responsibility and know limitations. Must be flexible and open to change. Must be able to handle stressful conditions during high work load situations. Must be able to analyze information received during conferences.

    NATURE OF WORK:

    Ensures quality and safe delivery of Speech-Language Pathology services. Evaluation and treatment of patients with communication disorders. Implements current Speech-Language Pathology service. Uses equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently. Screen patients referred to Speech-Language Pathologist to identify if further evaluation is required. Take responsibility for meeting standards of performance regarding attendance, communication, and documentation. Responsible for scheduling patient caseload.
