EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

· Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

· Required: Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois

· Required: Current BLS Certification

· ACLS certification within 3 months of hire

· PALS certification within 6 months of hire

· TNCC or TNS certification within one year of hire

· Minimum of 8 hours of pediatric education every 2 years

EXPERIENCE

· Required: Minimum of three (3) years RN experience

· Preferred: Minimum of 18 months of acute/critical care or Emergency Department experience

SKILLS

· Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments (including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations)

· Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, triage, IV therapy, and emergency procedures

· Strong documentation, communication, and patient/family education skills

· Ability to collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams

· Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and departmental standards

NATURE OF WORK

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department provides professional nursing care, coordinates care planning with other disciplines, and ensures optimal patient outcomes. This role requires strong clinical skills, compassion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule Details: This is a Day Shift Weekend Option position. The RN will be scheduled to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver direct patient care, including assessments, monitoring, and documentation.

· Accurately triage patients and respond to emergent situations.

· Administer medications and IV therapies safely and effectively.

· Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.

· Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.

· Supervise and orient Emergency Department Technicians and new staff.

· Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control practices.

· Participate in performance improvement initiatives and provide quarterly updates on departmental action plans.

· Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and respect for diverse patient needs.
