KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide nursing assessments and assist providers with office procedures.
· Coordinate patient care, including referrals, prescription requests, and patient education.
· Accurately document patient health history, medications, and updates in the electronic chart.
· Administer vaccinations, standing orders, and provider-directed treatments with proper documentation.
· Prioritize and respond to patient phone calls, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
· Maintain organized exam rooms, stock supplies, and manage sample/stock medications.
· Uphold HIPAA standards, infection control protocols, and hospital safety guidelines.
· Participate in chart audits, policy development, and quality improvement initiatives.
· Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and teamwork in all patient and staff interactions.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
· Required: Licensed LPN or RN in the State of Illinois.
· Preferred: Prior experience in outpatient or physician office practice settings.
NATURE OF WORK
The Office Nurse plays a vital role in patient care coordination, provider support, and patient education. This position requires excellent phone communication skills, as much of the role involves assisting patients over the phone. Responsibilities include nursing assessments, assisting with office procedures, carrying out provider orders, handling referrals, managing prescription requests, and ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic health record. The Office Nurse also maintains supplies, administers vaccinations, and participates in safety, policy development, and quality improvement initiatives.
EXPERIENCE
· Preferred: Experience providing direct patient care and nursing assessments; Experience with electronic health records and documentation.
SKILLS
· Excellent phone communication and patient interaction skills.
· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
· Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and hospital safety protocols.
