Minimum Requirements:

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; proof of insurance 
• Preferred: Experience with healthcare systems such as MedHost or NextGen

EXPERIENCE

• Preferred: Previous experience in a healthcare, courier, or customer service role preferred; Experience handling sensitive materials or working in a clinical environment is a plus.

NATURE OF WORK
The Laboratory Courier is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the laboratory by transporting specimens, supplies, and materials between the hospital and affiliated clinics. This position also assists with clerical functions such as filing, data entry, and communication to ensure efficient laboratory processes while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Transport laboratory specimens to and from hospital-owned clinics while maintaining proper temperature and integrity 
• Deliver supplies and other items to clinic locations as needed 
• Perform filing duties, including maintaining standing orders, outpatient orders, and process logs 
• Enter laboratory orders accurately into MedHost and NextGen systems 
• Answer telephone calls and assist with posting laboratory charges 
• Maintain positive and professional customer service with patients and staff 
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and handling of hazardous materials 
• Identify and report safety concerns and hazards 
• Participate in meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities 
• Adhere to attendance, professionalism, and conduct standards 
• Promote teamwork, collaboration, and positive workplace relationships 
• Maintain a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and required insurance coverage 
• Follow all traffic laws and hospital driving policies while on duty
