Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator - Full Time

NATURE OF WORK: The Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator ensures effective utilization of information systems at Horizon Healthcare by physicians and staff.  Trains new users (including medical staff) on software or hardware utilized in their job and existing users for upgrades or efficient use of the software within the department. The Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator strive to operate at maximum efficiency with regular maintenance steps for computers in the clinics.  Troubleshoots EHR and EPM issues with software vendor.  Manages and coordinates various projects through to completion - patient portal implementation and radiology interface. Achievement of NextGen Certified Professional status on EPM, EHR, and ICS through on-line learning.

Communication with managers is ongoing with progress on tickets, achieving goals within the department, users trained for tasks, information security issues, etc. The Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and offers or creates viable recommendations. Stays informed with NextGen notices on Critical News Flashes, for example, reviewing the problem and if clinic’s version and workflow is affected by problem, and communicating with end users accordingly. Daily maintenance checks on software and equipment performance including Communications Server and Fax Manager. Leads department with end-user continuous NextGen learning, including medical staff, nursing, and business office functions. Set-up in File Maintenance, System Admin, etc. as applications are upgraded or added to NextGen. Enable access for employees of the medical clinic for Windows, shared drives, folders, internet sites, NextGen etc. according to manager’s direction which is necessary for employee job functions while limiting unnecessary access. Perform protected health information audits on NextGen, considering appropriate and inappropriate users’ viewing and activity within charts.

Software installation, uninstallation, and updating as needed for Horizon users such as Windows, MicroSoft products, NextGen, Java, and Adobe.

The Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator also enhances patient access to care via schedule template management. Supervision and assistance with scheduling patient care appointments and coordination of medical care services is priority. The Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the patient experience and effectively delivering quality medical care and customer service to patients utilizing the patient centered medical care framework. The Clinic Nursing Informatics Coordinator will lead the department in meaningful use/ merit based incentive payment system requirements to achieve incentive payments and maintain in good standing with the Accountable Care Organization Fairfield Memorial Hospital participates with.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education:  Registered Nurse in State of Illinois, Nursing Informatics certification preferred. Advanced education in computer field preferred.

Experience: Experience with electronic medical record charting. Two or more years nursing experience in clinic setting is preferred. Previous project management experience preferred.  Intermediate IT skills.  Front-line support for hardware and software.  Excellent interpersonal skills as communication and training of others is required. Prepare instructional materials for users.

Skills:  Excellent communication skills, patient workup, and keyboarding.  Excellent customer service, organization skills, an understanding of care in the clinic setting, and ability to work effectively in stressful situations.

Additional: Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required. EHR/Help Desk Support, MicroSoft Office Suite, and/or NextGen (medical software) experience preferred.
