ER Paramedic

Education and Experience: High School graduate or equivalent with one (1) year experience in acute hospital setting or in ambulance; Current BLS Certification; Active & unencumbered Illinois EMT-P license; Basic arrhythmia course (may obtain within six months of hire); ACLS & PALS Certification (may obtain within six months of hire); Medical terminology.
Responsibilities: Provides supportive care to the Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a multi disciplinary team member; supports and assists team members in all activities. Communicates in an effective and efficient manner with all documentation, and with all coworkers, patients, visitors, and physicians. Recognizes and reports appropriate data to the Registered Nurse. Assists Registered Nurse and physicians with assessments, examinations, and treatment. Performs and assists with technical skills, including EKGs, placing patient on the cardiac monitor, HHN treatment, and others as requested by the supervising RN. Performs other duties as inserviced, including crutch walking, dressing changes and assisting physician with splint or cast application. Adheres to Fairfield Memorial Hospital policy addressing standard precautions, safety regulations, and guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
