Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Expansion Project has started. During this much anticipated project, the community can expect to see hard hats, heavy equipment and steel beams going up as the foundation for your healthcare. This expansion comes at a time when our services are growing and space is non-existent.

This building project will allow for Fairfield Memorial Hospital to expand services and develop new services for the health of our patients. In this project, we will be expanding our Surgical Services Department, Emergency Medicine Department, relocating and expanding our Urgent Care, and creating additional Physician Offices spaces for our expanding specialty services. Also included in the project are plans to build a new Skilled Care Unit on the third floor of the tower.

The expanded services will consist of a three-story addition. The first floor will house an expanded emergency room. The emergency room will allow for an easier and more efficient work flow.  Next to the emergency room will be the new urgent care department. Staging the two departments side by side will provide our patients with easier access to their urgent or emergent needs. Patients will be assessed by their needs upon arrival, making it easier to evaluate the urgency of their situation and get them to the correct location for treatment. These critical moments will provide our patients with peace of mind and security.

Along with the new emergency room and urgent care, there will be an expanded surgical department. With the addition of three surgeons, the department will grow and expand to accommodate the volume of procedures they will be able to perform. Fairfield Memorial is now seeing incredible progress in the organization and is excited to add additional hometown physicians to their workforce. As Fairfield Memorial responds to the needs of their patients, orthopedic services will be among some of the newly added services.

“Coming back to Fairfield as a former native was an easy decision. Fairfield Memorial Hospital has been supportive throughout my education and medical training. Returning to Fairfield and starting my career with Fairfield Memorial during one of its most monumental and impactful expansions has solidified my decision to come on board as a surgeon at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. I am looking forward to what this expansion will bring to our community and our patients.” said Caroline Neff, MD, General Surgeon.

Ensuring comfort and care for loved ones is what Fairfield Memorial strives to do on a daily basis. Part of this comfort and care will be extended to the new Skilled Care Unit on the third floor of the new addition. The Skilled Care Unit will have a completely new, modern department to better take care of their residents, thus providing families with the affirmation they have placed their loved ones in the best hands possible. The care by our Skilled Care staff has been recognized as a 5 star unit and given the US News & World Reports award for one of the elite Skilled Care Units. Now we will give our residents a 5 star environment.

“Fairfield Memorial Hospital is proud to be able to expand on this great success by reinvesting back in the community. The expansion is another step on the path towards progress by providing high quality healthcare and additional services to our community and surrounding communities without the hassle of traveling to a larger town.” stated Patrick L. Molt, MD, FACS, FMH Board of Directors President and Chief of Surgical Services.

“The economic impact the expansion plans to bring to our area is astounding. The sustainability is vital for generations to come. When I look back at where we were and where we continue to grow I am overwhelmed with emotion. The amount of time, planning and strategizing to get us to this day is inspiring, it's important to be appreciative of the progression we have made thus far. This expansion will provide new access points for our patients to receive the best possible care and I look forward to the positive impact this expansion will bring to our community.” commented FMH CEO Kathy Bunting-Williams.

As Fairfield Memorial Hospital embarks on this journey ahead we look to the community for support and understanding as there may be periodic disruptions in traffic flow in and around the facility due to the construction project. We will do our best to keep the community informed whenever we have to re-route traffic into our facility’s grounds and parking areas. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of growth.
