Fairfield Memorial Hospital Medical Staff and Employees want to express their appreciation to the community for their due diligence in helping to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. By following the scientific recommendations of wearing a mask, staying six feet apart, and frequent handwashing, we are seeing fewer positive cases of COVID-19 and a significant reduction in the number of patients with COVID-19 having to be hospitalized due to the severity of their symptoms. As of the time of this article is being written we have no patients in the hospital for COVID-19.

With this stabilization of numbers, we continue to be able to offer all of the same medical and surgical services that we were offering prior to the COVID pandemic in a patient safety focused environment. We will be considering resuming support groups and the opening of the cafeteria in the next few months in the hopes that the numbers continue to be low. None of this would be possible without the efforts being made by the community, our staff, and local agencies to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. For this we say thank you and keep up the great work! Together we will get thru this pandemic and move on to better and brighter things.

“I am extremely proud of the efforts that have been made to prevent the spread of this horrific disease. The goal is to keep the numbers from overwhelming the healthcare system and in Wayne County and the surrounding communities this goal is being accomplished. The Surgery Department continues to operate at full capacity and as a member of the Medical Staff, I want to encourage people to not delay seeking treatment  and testing as health issues do not just go away because of a pandemic.” commented Dr. Patrick Molt, MD, FACS, Chief of Surgery and Anesthesia.

“Fairfield Memorial Hospital has been and will continue to make every effort to provide patients and their loved ones the best possible care in a clean and safe environment. Our Respiratory Illness Screening Clinic tent sees patients with respiratory illnesses in an area away from the general population for our patients and our staff’s protection, which isn’t always easy with the winter weather we are experiencing. Our Plant Operations staff have installed heating in the carports to help reduce the effects of the winter weather and we are still so appreciative to have the MABAS tent available for our staff to use during this pandemic. We are very thankful for everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of this disease and we want to reassure our patients and their loved ones that when you come to any of our four locations that you will be taken care of in a safe, caring, and patient centered environment.” stated FMH CEO Katherine Bunting-Williams.
