Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Expansion Project continues to make progress each week. Here is a brief synopsis of the work that is being completed and what is planned for next week.

The week of November 23rd has consisted of the concrete contractor pouring some recessed slab areas on the first floor where the public and Urgent Care restrooms will be and they will also be pouring curb and gutter along the service road. The ironworkers are continuing the bolting up process with another 2-3 weeks to go on this project. They are also installing elevator support steel in the two elevator shafts. The mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical trades are core drilling for floor penetrations and installing support for their work that will be above the ceilings. The drywall contractor continues with the exterior stud wall as well as lay-out and installation of track for the interior partitions. The spray fireproofing of the exterior steel frame was completed over the past weekend. The construction site was closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

The week of November 30th, weather permitting, will consist of the drywall contractor finishing the exterior wall and working towards the plans of the sheathing up on the east side of the building, The ironworkers will continue the bolting up and will be getting close to completion by the end of the week. The mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical trades will be continuing their efforts with the core drilling and supports throughout the building. If the weather permits, our excavation contractor will be on site for final grading around the west parking lot and to complete the work on the retention pond.

Additionally, starting December 2nd through December 5th, there will be some work being done on the first floor of the existing hospital that may cause some re-routing of access to areas. We will have signage posted for the areas affected and the majority of this work will be performed during the evening and night hours.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital appreciates your patience and understanding during this time of construction.
