Health Information Specialist - Full Time

Status: Full Time; Days; 8am-4:30pm

NATURE OF WORK: Analyze medical records for completeness and accuracy. Prepare and scan chart documents per department guidelines into the appropriate patient’s medical record. Verify scanned documents are clear, attached to the proper account and in the correct category for future reference. Retrieve items from long term storage as needed for review and obsolescence per Fairfield Memorial Hospital policy and state record retention requirements. Compile Chart Review results for Department Manager as needed. Fulfill requests received via fax, mail, phone, or at patient window as appropriate and per HIPAA and Fairfield Memorial Hospital guidelines. Complete all tasks with a focus toward accuracy and efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; 1 year of college preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in medical office preferred.

Knowledge: Medical terminology, Microsoft Office Products

Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability: Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member.
