NATURE OF WORK: Mammography Technologist demonstrates a high degree of concern about people, assists and prepares patients for mammography exams as requested by the physician, after correctly identifying the patient. Provides appropriate education for patient and/or family regarding procedures and equipment used, including any possible adverse effects. Determines correct positioning and technique to perform exam. Documents procedure performed and patient tolerance of the procedure. Communicates any unusual occurrences to the patient or other persons responsible for the patient’s care. Prepares, maintains and files all images. Checks processor quality as needed for MQSA. Provides mobile mammography services off-site as part of FMH outreach to other communities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Licensed by the IEMA Division of Safety.

Experience: 2-3 years Mammography experience preferred. Hologic and Penrad preferred but not required. MQSA and ACR accreditation knowledge preferred.

Skills: Team player willing to assist in meeting organizational goals. Having the initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to organize and direct own work flow. Must have excellent communication skills and effectively present information and respond to questions when applicable.
