Fairfield Memorial Hospital entered into a new era of Orthopedic Surgeries with the use of robotically assisted surgical system to perform a right total knee arthroplasty, also known as knee replacement, for the first time on August 23rd, 2021.

With the use of the Zimmer Biomet’s ROSA® Knee System, Dr. Blank performed a right total knee replacement. The ROSA Knee is a robotically-assisted surgical system designed to help perform total knee replacement surgery. It includes features to assist with bone resections and assessing the state of soft tissues in order to facilitate implant positioning intraoperatively. Data provided by ROSA Knee assists with complex decision-making and enables surgeons to use computer and software technology to control and move surgical instruments, allowing for greater precision and flexibility during procedures.

Harold Reeves is the first patient to benefit from this technologically advanced type of surgery at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. “I am really impressed with Dr. Kory Blank and his wife, PA Rebekah Blank.  Their personalities are caring and bubbly when entering a room, they make you feel comfortable. When I heard FMH was getting Orthopedic Services at Fairfield I immediately got an appointment.  The staff spent time with me in the Radiology Department and the Orthopedic Surgical Clinic in preparation for this procedure and took a lot of time to explain the process to me and what to expect. I think Wayne County is extremely fortunate to have FMH and the expansion of services. It’s a home run to have this Hospital.” commented Mr. Reeves.

“I am very excited to be bringing this service to Fairfield Memorial Hospital. We know the decision to have joint replacement is often a difficult one for patients to make, and we believe these robotically-assisted technologies have the potential to make it an easier one moving forward. I appreciate the opportunities that the FMH Administration and Board of Directors have given to me to be able to bringing the latest technology in orthopedic surgery to our area. My wife and I have been welcomed with open arms by the Medical Staff, the staff at FMH, and the communities we serve and we are happy to here to serve our communities’ orthopedic needs.” stated Dr. Kory Blank, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon.

“Fairfield Memorial Hospital strives to stay on the forefront of medicine whenever possible for the betterment of our patients. It is exciting for all of us to see our hospital progress into the newest era of orthopedic surgery! Dr. Blank and PA Blank are a wonderful addition to our outstanding team of Medical Providers and Employees. We have received numerous compliments on patients’ experiences with our Orthopedic Surgical team.” stated FMH CEO Katherine Bunting-Williams.
