Inpatient Services

Our Registered Dietitian assesses all patients who are at high nutritional risk and makes recommendations to their physician based on the patient’s need. This may include changing the patient’s diet order, adjusting tube feeding or TPN settings, adding oral nutrition supplements, or providing the patient with diet education before they go home.

Outpatient Services

Our Registered Dietitian completes a full nutrition assessment and provides in-depth nutrition education for outpatients with a variety of health concerns. Based on the individual’s needs and nutrition goals, a personalized meal plan will be developed to satisfy their food preferences and lifestyle. A physician referral is required to schedule an appointment. The following is a list of common conditions that can be improved through dietary changes:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • High Cholesterol
  • High Blood Pressure

  • High triglycerides
  • Celiac Disease
  • Eating Disorders
  • Kidney (Renal) Disease

Guest Services - Dining Room

Fairfield Memorial Hospital provides an array of wonderful menu options and choices, with special offerings including soup and sandwich of the day on weekdays.

Dining/Cafeteria Daily Service Hours

Breakfast: 6 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4 p.m. -7:30 p.m.

April Greifzu, CDM, CFPP, Director of Nutritional Services as been in the Healthcare Food Industry for many years.  She leads a team of over 17 staff members in preparing nearly 400 meals daily for staff, patients and visitors.

Whitney Buckles, MS, RD, LDN

Whitney Buckles, MS, RD, LDN received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. In addition, she completed a supervised Dietetic Internship and received her Master of Science in Nutrition at Murray State University. She is nationally registered and licensed in the state of Illinois as a Dietitian/Nutritionist. Whitney grew up in Albion, IL and was very pleased to join the FMH staff in June 2011 as the full-time Clinical Dietitian.

Diabetes Care

In addition, our Registered Dietitian may see outpatients referred to Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program. Patients are taught how different foods affect their blood sugar along with meal planning skills to help manage their diabetes. She works closely with the Diabetes Educator to provide a nutrition plan that is appropriate for each individual’s medication or insulin regimen.
