    FMH Welcomes Connie Henshaw, APN, FNP as Hospitalist

    Fairfield Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Connie Henshaw, Advanced Practice Nurse(APN), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), has joined the organization as a Hospitalist, providing care to patients in the Med/Surg ICU Department.

    Henshaw is an American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in acute care, critical care, and emergency nursing. In her new role, she will deliver comprehensive inpatient care, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes for patients with complex medical needs.

    Henshaw earned her Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Southern Indiana and also holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Healthcare from the same institution. Her combined clinical and administrative education supports her commitment to improving both patient outcomes and healthcare delivery systems.

    She brings more than a decade of diverse healthcare experience to Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Most recently, Henshaw served as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Ferrell Hospital, where she provided preventive and acute care, managed chronic conditions, and coordinated treatment plans for patients across the lifespan. Her previous experience includes roles as a Nurse Case Manager and Clinical Supervisor, as well as extensive hands-on experience as a Registered Nurse in emergency and intensive care settings.

    Throughout her career, Henshaw has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient advocacy, clinical excellence, and compassionate care. Her expertise spans disease management, diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, and care coordination for patients with complex and acute conditions.

    The FMH Hospitalist Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are supervised by Kyle Kakac, Medical Doctor (MD), Family Medicine Physician. Dr. Kakac serves as the Medical Director of the Hospital Medicine Service. In addition to providing 24/7 remote medical directorship duties, he comes onsite monthly, works some shifts in the Emergency Department (ED), and meets regularly with the midlevel providers—including Hospitalist NPs at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Carmi Clinic, and other supervised locations—as well as the Skilled Care Unit (SCU).

    Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Hospitalist Program is dedicated to providing continuous, coordinated care for hospitalized patients, ensuring safety, efficiency, and improved patient outcomes.
