Pain Clinic - Clinic Nurse (RN/LPN)

Shift/Hours of Work: 4-5 Days Per Week; Monday - Friday; Between 8am-5:00pm

NATURE OF WORK:  Clinic Nurse plays a vital role in providing nursing support to the pain clinic through patient work up, education, assisting with procedures, and coordinating care with primary care providers and other physicians and facilities, and completes physician orders. Nurse will obtain medical information from the patient and outside sources, and document such in the patient electronic health record to be used by provider for decision-making. Nurse enters patient’s health history at each visit with updates to medications, allergies, and family history. Educates patient, as needed, such as tests or procedures to be scheduled and dealing with their chronic condition. Handles phone calls from patients, pharmacies, and other sources relating to orders, medical care, etc. Stock and maintain nursing supplies in the clinic. Work as a team with Providers, Clinic Director and ancillary hospital departments to deliver exceptional care to patients. Coordinates with key hospital departments and outside entities to handle needs of the pain clinic and its patients including surgery pre-certification for provider and hospital services, orders, referrals, obtaining outside records or accepting referrals. Timely and accurate work produced is vital. Teams with Patient Access Specialist in efficient daily clinic operations including answering phone and scheduling appointments, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  RN/ LPN Illinois licensure required.

Experience:  Experience with electronic medical record, handling of PHI, pre-certification and referrals or utilization review and dealing with various insurance companies preferred in a medical office or hospital setting.  Minimum two years nursing experience required.

Skills:  Excellent computer keyboarding, customer service, organization and communication skills needed.  Ability to work effectively in stressful situations through prioritization and multi-tasking as well as providing excellent customer service is important.  Leadership and problem solving to support the daily needs of the physician/clinic.
